Bonjour,

Je ne suis pas bilingue mais j'ai fait une licence d'anglais. Si ça peut aider...

Ouf! (how do you say this in english?)

I went to the "Christopher's" - an english cybercafé in Paris - but i didn't succeed in talking to someone because i'm too timid. How having someone to exchange letters or mails? How did you do when you were student for beeing so good in english? (euh... 1heure pour écrire ces 2 lignes! ça promet, hein??)

Hiya everyone!

Hope you're all fine and you've had good holidays.

In my opinion, this is a great idea to join people together here to practice. However, the English exam you're all going to have is oral and sending messages in this forum will not help you to talk, nor to improve your pronunciation.

What you should all do is finding English natives and just talk to them because:

1) It would be too long to give explanations to all the mistakes you guys make when you write. It would take hours.

2) You're going to need vocabulary if you want to be successful at the exam, and this is not something you can get from this forum.

To my mind, that would be the best way if you wanna get through your English oral exam.

Good luck to everyone of you

Thanh

Hello!

I'm back in the game uhuh!

Firebolt, I think that native people are not that easy to find! That's why writing here is a good idea, even if it doesn't help anyone with their accent, it's still good to practice in an informal way. I think that what is really important is to speak fluently.

I have a lot of oral exams and I often forget words. That happens. But I agree with you when you say that it would be too long to correct every single mistake. But still, talking (or writing) is always good.

(ouf=phew!)

Oh and that's just an idea but in every English department (in universities), 'english nights' are organized in pubs. Everyone can join in and speak english with the students and lecturers.

Hey,

Your English is good! Where are you from? Or what did you do to speak English so well?

You're right about the "English nights". In Paris for instance, there are "erasmus parties" every thursday night and I guess it's kind of the same in other (big) cities.

Otherwise, I reckon the only point in sending messages in this forum is to help people "think" in English, and by doing so, talk more fluently.

I'm from Toulouse.

And er... I study English at uni. That's the reason why. I also spent a month in London 2 years ago, to work in a nursery school (but I'm not sure hearing 'miiiiiiiiiiss he's been nastyyyyyy' all day long really helped me).

What did you do to speak english that well ?

Same for me, I studied English at university for 4 years. I tried to get my CAPES but I failed: it was much too hard for me. I also spent a month in London working as a waiter and I just came back from England. I worked there as a an agent in an educational travel program.

Are you planning to get the CRPE this year?

Yep, first time!

And also my M1!

You too?

No I got it last year. I strongly advice you to keep studying cause there are a lot of drawbacks in being an teacher. I have been teaching for a year now, and I don"t want to say I'm sick of it but... the thing is there's so much work to do after the "concours" and you're not well paid. At first it made no difference for me because money is not what I was looking for but now, with perspective, I realize that teachers are really underpaid.

Ahah and now let's start the debate everyone!

I guess it's our theme for today!

I agree with you, but more than the salary, the real problem for me is the lack of consideration.

I spent two weeks in a class of moyennes sections and the teacher had to explain to the parents that no their child was not doing coloring all day long and she had to do this every day, it must sooo tiring!

Let's start the debate everyone! lol There are only the two of us.

The lack of consideration? I do agree with you. Parents are certainly not grateful for what you teach to their children, neither are the children, by the way.

It's even worst when it comes to nursery school: parents think that because their children are young, they do not work at school. But it's not true, far away from this assumption, children in nursery school have so many things to learn that teachers seldom have enough time to teach them all the thigns they're supposed to know.

It must be really tiring as you said, you have to convince the parents first and then the children. As far as I'm concerned, I'll be one day in Grande Section this year ad I really hope that everything's gonna be okay with the parents.
