This week we (?) can work on the texts I gave last week because my kids are on holidays and I am so busy that I can not work as I would.

This text "Schools to face interviewing ban" is an article taken from BBC news and it dates back to february 2006, the 2nd.

It tackles with a controversial issue in England : a school reform which according to 90 members of Parliament is a return to academic selection. To check the row, a compromise plan has been decided : interviewing parents or pupils is completly ban, local councils could build new schools and if a school is not abiding by the admission code, it could be punished.

Government wants to create trust schools with their own asserts and admission policies but the opponents of this project feared enormous differences between schools and a selfish policy.

After many critisisms from deputies, ministers, a compromise has been decided. One of the most important points is that there is a national admission code for schools to respect. Otherwise, they can be out of law and judged by the scools adjudicator.

This compromise plan is welcomed by most of the opponents even if many of them keep thinking that Tony Blair and his government have changed their mind because of the blackbenchers and not because of the parents and a better education.

Pew ! For next week I'm going to choose different subjects !

Thank you for reading and have a nice week :)

PS : Teacher, I don't know where the others are. I just know that Ludi's had a baby a few weeks ago and I think that she must be really busy ;)

Hi , Bigotna,

Nice to have you back ...I know things aren't easy for you, for any of you ...but if you want the certificate, you must make a few sacrifices ( for a short time only ) and you need to ask your family, relatives to support and help you . They will all be happy when you are a primary teacher , won't they ?

All the best

Very few errors !

Are you also doing this ORALLY ? remember you need to check how long your presentation takes .

Practise your reading aloud too.

And imagine what kind of questions you could be asked on such a topic ( and for all the topics you have worked on so far )

Remember the chosen text can also be an extract from a novel. So maybe you need to think about books ( Lords of the Rings / Oliver Twist/ Harry Potter ..or more serious ones : I just chose those ones because they were in the news , )

Allez , COURAGE !!;-)

Here is my summary for this text :

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/4694984.stm

This text is an article from BBC News and it dates back to february 2006. It is entitled "Sinn Fein MP's funding restored".

The Independent Monitoring Commission, created in January 2004 to control paramilitary organisations' activities and which commissionners come from Nothern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Britain and US, has recommanded to relinquish the financial sanctions taken last year against Sinn Fein because of a suspicion of its involvement in the Nothern Bank robbary.

This commission also reported that the Sinn Fein's leadership really and clearly wants to end with its armed policy.

For that reason, Tony Blair and his government have decided to give it (Sinn Fein) allowances back and moreover this allowances should be backdated to November last year.

This decision has been much debated. Especially by the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) which is against that restoring of allowances to Sinn Fein. The DUP's member of Parliament, Nigel Dodds argues that IRA still continue its illegal activities like crimes, spies, rackets...

The Conservative spokesman on Nothern Ireland, David Liddington adds that may be the oath of loyalty to the Queen should be reviewed if the Sinn Fein's MPs seat in the House of common.

But, Sinn Fein's Martin Mc Guiness intends to point out that they refuse to British Parliament the right to control the whole of Ireland.

This is it !

Teacher, I always watch movies and TV shows like Seinfeld (my favorite) and Friends in english with french subtitles but from next week on, I 'll watch them with english subtitles. I am going to speak english with my husband too because he speaks it fluently and has a really great accent. I try to read outloud but it is difficut to do so many things because I (as Bigotna) have kids and with the other subjects, I am really really busy (I work each evening very late ;) ) but I want to improve my english so thank you again for being here
