Nobody wants to work his english ? I am so sorry to be alone !

Nevertheless i worked on a new text. here is the link :http://www.crdp.ac-lyon.fr/a/ConcoursEdu/langues_ext_public/anglais/CRPEAnglaisPublic2006_30.pdf (subject 8 of the Lyon academic)

The submitted text is an article from BBC news published on the twentieth of february 2006. This text tells a story happened to the ravens of the Tower of London, during the avian flu epidemic.

Indeed, through this article we learn that the Tower of londond has six ravens, one in each towers in a special aviary(I notice I made a misunderstanding). These birds are very important beacause a legend says that if the bird die then it will lead to the destruction of the kingdom. That's why, though the raven master doesn't like the measure, he puts raven inside tower and make them vaccinate against the flu to protect them.

Now, I would tell you about the avian flu. This text seems to be a light story but it is a real problem. Scientists fear that the virus of the avian flu became communicable between humans. So there is a great danger upon our heads because for the moment, no vaccination exists to fight this lethal virus. Nevertheless the world organisation for the health has given instructions to struggle againts the avian flu and to limit his expansion in case of a human transmition.

The text is a story from the BBC news. It's about the six ravens from Tower of London which have to stay inside one of the towers to protect them of bird flu.

The six ravens are getting used to their new environment according their Master.

The EU farm ministers have a meeting in Bruxelles in order to discuss the spread of the virus which has arrived in France.

The free range poultry in GB are not yet being locked up for the moment.

This is my version just for the text. Than my opinion.

Avian flu is a dangerous virus which can become communicable to humans. There is a vaccination against this virus but not enough for all the human beings, so for the moment the health organisation hasn't found a solution yet.

Hi! Here is my work, see you soon

The document is an article from the Independent, a British daily newspaper. It was published in February 2006. the main subject of the text is about Afghan women's status since the collapse of the Taleban regime in 2001.

The author went to Afghanistan and could notice that in spite of the first democratic parliamentary election in more than 30 years, and although women's freedom, it still remains progress to be done in that country.

Indeed, the reader is informed that if women are allowed to get the driving licence, men don't agree! The author gives the example of a woman he met and whom he accompanied on her driving test. He was sure she would pass until he overlooked women's difficulties in Afghanistan. Indeed, whereas she walked towards the test car, she was called a prostitute by men on the pavement. And that is how she failed the test.

This woman told the journalist that even if women have freedom, they're not free to enjoy it.

As far as I'm concerned, I can't help thinking of French women's luckyness. Even though today in France it still exists disparities between men and women, above all in employement, French women's status is "respected". The parity and women's rights are more evolved in France than in countries such like Afghanistan. We can wonder about afghan women's future and hope it will be best soon...

Ok , but I think this is a bit short ...

try to develop the topic by giving examples ( you mention France or employment ... OK so what ? give some details!)

Sorry I'm a bit late but I'm interested in summarizing articles too. :D

This article from BBC news, untitled "tower's raven are kept indoors" was published on the twentieth of february 2006 and deals with avian flu that arises an unexpected issue.

Indeed according to a british legend, the raven are the gardians of the tower of London. If they die, the tower will be destroyed as for the english kingdom. So the 6 raven that fly around the building have to be protected from the flu.

As this very contagious illness keeps spreading all around Europe, the english authorities debates on the fate of these black birds :should they be kept in huge aviaries, inside the tower for their security or not ? Expert agreed althought english minister didn't.

This article that wonders wether the bird should be locked or not seems trivial but for lots of poultry breeders avian flu represented a great problem as they have to put their breeding into confinement. If one poultry was affected by the virus , they had to kill the whole poultries. This added to the fall of selling due to the consumers ' fear lead to huge financial looses.

This article underlines the importance of tradition and of history in England too as I really think that if these 6 raven died it will affect the english people. They are given a name and seems familiar to the english people.

The text I am going to summarize has been adapted from The times and published on the 28th of February 2006.

It deals with the childhood obesity crisis and more precisely with the governamental strategy to tackle this problem.

The journalist provides us the remarks of a report which denounces the time spent to implement efficient measures to struggle against obesity. Indeed, it strongly criticizes the numerous experts who wasted 18 monthes to agree on the means to measure obesity. The journalist underlines that 3 years till the deadline which is 2010, are particularly short.

In the third paragraph, he evokes the increase in obesity percentage for 4 points from 1995 to 2003 and quotes Steeve Bundred, the chief executive of the audit commission who does a pessimistic remark. According to him, the children who suffer from obesity today risk not to live as long as their parents.

Apparently, a strong leadership, clear strategies and money are missing for an efficient policy. Although numerous actions as reform of school meals in canteen, healthy school programme, have been implemented, the author seems to be sceptical, particularly about incentives to pratice sports. The report asserts that the children who need to loose weight won't be volunteer enough to such activities.

Moreover, this article points out the confusion between the teachers and the health professionnals about their roles

In the last paragraph, the journalist tells us that school and sport ministers declared that a lot of money have been invested to implement the planed actions.

Is money sufficient ? This article is interesting because it reveales that the lack of leadershiph and organisation can delay the best initiatives.

France is not spared by this problem of the obesity crisis. The governement proved its involvement by including the healthcare education in the national programme. All french pupils have lessons about health in the scientific curriculum.

Nowadays, school has to cope with new challenges to reach its goals : to teach, to educate, to train, to allow children to grow in good health.

[ I can't remember who was asking - but you don't have time to write everything !

Just jot down ideas .

there are structures /phrases that you've been using for ages now that you won't need to write down such as : this is an article issued from....)
