If you want to speak or more precisely to write in English as a training, we can speak in English.

A good exercise would be discussions about different topics which could happen during the examination...

For example, the first question we have to think about is :

Why do you want to become a teacher? What are your motivations?

It is up to you, i am waiting for your answers!! Don't be shy, even if we can commit mistakes, the purpose is to find some answers and to learn new vocabulary thanks to the others...

Let's go!!!

it's a very good idea! but i speak english like Dora... i had not begin to revise my english, so it's a good exercice for me. So, i can try to answear to your question but you have to correct me please...thanks a lot!

Why do you want to become a teacher? i would like to become a teacher because i love being with children and i would like to pass on my knowledge to the others, especially to the children. Moreover, i want to become a teacher since i was a little girl...i can compare this desire to a vocation. One thing that i like too, it's to see growing the children, when they pass your class, just seing them to make progress it's a satisfaction for me.

it's a bit difficult to correct all your mistakes because i need to revise, too. but i can tell you some of them which are serious on the d-day...however, you should know i can commit mistakes, too!

- i think that if you want to say "je n'ai pas commencé ", you must use the simple past : i did not begin, ... be careful, you must revise your irregulary verbs (begin, began, begun...had begun, present perfect used to keep a link with the present...)

- to answer a question, not to a question

- one thing...is, not it is because it's too frenchy...

- be carefull, english sentenses are not always inversed, it is very French...

To come back to your answer, i agree with you, because i am like you...i think you cannot become a teacher if you don't have any vocation, in fact a "good" teacher. I love sharing my knowings and to me,it is a reason to live. I cannot imagine another life without teaching because i know how your life is when you do it. I had the chance to teach as a substitute in a private school and it was so great!! Pupils were about 9 and i had to improvise but the contact was interesting (and their teacher told me they loved me too!!). I cannot imagine doing another profession and i think i am made for teaching, i am not happy when i do another job.

Well, it is a bit long...another question? For example,

In your opinion, what is a good teacher?

If you want to answer other questions, don't hesitate...

see you later!

Hello, hello !

Since I'm a bit bored this afternoon, I thought I could help you a bit  . Hope you don't mind.

"commit mistakes" : I think you can use "make mistakes" it'll be just fine, simplier but quite ok :)

"i had not begin to revise my english"... The past tenses... They're hell :P Just try to remember, if you want to use "had", always translate it by "avais" in French. -> had/avais "Je n'avais pas commencé". Doesn't work, does it ? ;) So you should just use "I have not begun" -> have/ai -> Je n'ai pas commencé. Works fine.

You can also add the small "yet" at the end : I haven't begun to... yet. (Je n'ai pas encore commencé de...)

By the way, Dora is wonderful ;)

"because i am like you..." Don't ask me, but I would have said "because I'm just like you". I am like you sounds very French to me.

"I love sharing my knowings" I love "to do something" and not "I love doing something".

By "knowings", I think you meant (to mean - meant/meant) "knowledge" (which will never ever be plural). I love to share my knowledge... about something, etc.

I cannot imagine another life without teaching because i know how your life is when you do it. Be careful, it sounds like you have several lives (one life/two or more lives), are you a cat ? ;) I would say : "I know what it's like to teach, what it makes me feel, my life would be empty without teaching"

"i am not happy when i do another job." "I wouldn't be happy with another job" or "I have had other jobs but none of them made me happier than teaching." (Depends if you are willing to talk about your other jobs to the person who's asking you the question".)

Good luck !! :clover:

thank you both to help me! i think my problem is that i want to translate my french sentences into english...and the result is complicated english sentences...so i think is better to make simple english sentences and above all, thinking my sentences in english, not in french...

In your opinion, what is a good teacher?

From my point of view, a good teacher is able to teach knowledge without children realize that. Pupils must have the impression that learning is pleasant and not a constraining obligation. A good teacher can make pupils learn while playing...that is to say that with this teacher, children consider school as pleasure. Moreover, in my opinion, a good teacher must be able to responsable and be able to pass on children some values like respect or sharing. The teacher must be respected too by the pupils.

Well, i think it's important to correct my answer but especially the form not so much the content...

thank you both to help me!

* Thank you

Thank you for this stuff

Thank you for offering me this stuff

so i think is better to make simple english sentences and above all, thinking my sentences in english, not in french

If you start with "to make", you must finish your sentence with "to think" and not "thinking" :)

without children realize that
* without

without this stuff

without cooking this stuff

Also - without realizing it - Keep the "that" for something you are showing/pointing with your finger :)

some values like respect or sharing

Like is too much a translation of "comme" - You should use "such as" instead. - such as respect and sharing.

The teacher must be respected too by the pupils.

Here, you should use "also" instead of "too".

The teacher must also be respected by the pupils.

* Difference between "also" and "too"

Also - use as in French : et j'aimerais aussi ajouter ceci... I would also like to add this... (following something)

Too - (moi aussi) je l'ai fait : I did it too (has already been done/said by someone).

Hope this helps :)

(by the way, if someone wants to talk in English only (;)) on MSN - I'm available)

Hello,

So, let's go and improve our english. It's very difficult for me because I haven't practiced since a long time - 4years.

(The most difficult here : Since and For... I don't kwon why but I can not remember the law. Ago : always simple past!)

A good teacher : it is me! Why not? I hope so, but this competition is not easy!

This is a person who loves children and likes her (person, feminin ou masculin en anglais?) job and who has a natural authority and transmit all her knowledge.

Have a nice week-end...

Posté(e)

Sunday morning, croissants are in the oven, mmmmm.... Smells good... :P

Hello to Manu and xtell04 :)

* about "I think it's a really good idea you have Navyblue"

Since Navyblue already got the idea you have to use a past tense.

I think it's a really good idea that you had Navyblue. A bit french though.

-> I think you had a really good idea Navyblue.

* in first, in second

Don't forget the famous "in one hand, in the other hand"

You can also use : also, then

*Since/for/ago

It's very difficult for me because I haven't practiced since a long time - 4years.

And here it was "for" ;)

"For" You have practiced before and you're practising again today.

I haven't practised for a long time. - depuis longtemps.

"Since" implies you have stopped doing the thing.

I didn't practise since I was 8. - depuis que j'ai 8 ans.

"Ago" implies you did it and you remember the "precise" date.

I practiced... years ago. - il y a des années.

I practiced 4 years ago. - il y a 4 ans.

* Person

Mhm, I have no idea if there's a rule for that one.

If you know who the person is then there's no problem, if you don't know, I'd say to use "her".

*Law is used in justice and trials. Grammar rules (rule/rules) are used in school :)

Croissants are reaaaddddy !

Oooh, for those who want, I have a question :

"What do you remember about your English class ? Did you like taking this class ? "

Posté(e)

Allie, Allie! you are going to become our english teacher on the forum! thank you :)

What do you remember about your english class? Did you like taking this class?

About my english class, i remember that i learnt especially grammar lessons and irregular verbs! moreover...how make english sentences.... But the problem, in my opinion, was that all the knowledge and lessons were written: i didn't talk, that is to say no oral discussions, i didn't have a conversation with the teacher. Sometimes, the teacher asked me some questions about different text and i had to reply. So, i didn't pratise english very well. Just exercices to apply some rules. And to conclude, i can say that i didn't like taking this class...in general, my exercices were right and i haven't difficulties to write english sentences; but personally, i was afraid of talking with the english accent, i was frightened of being ridiculous!

Hi everybody !!!

I was wondering if I could join your group.. May I ?

I've read all the subjetcs, and I'll try to share some ideas with you, if you don't mind.

It is actually very interesting to think about such topics, just in case... The jury may ask us many questions about our past experiences or about our goals for the future. I didn't realise that we would have to be very specific on that matter.

I even thought that they would only judge our speaking skills, but it worth to be prepared on every kind of subjetcs.

What do you remember about your english class? Did you like taking this class?

That's a good one !!

When I was in high school, I didn't really enjoy studying foreign languages. I guess that I didn't realise it might be useful for my future. So I went to every class, but didn't really get involved. I was a bit disappointed because what we did everytime was more focused on grammatics or memory skills. We didn't talk as much as I expected.

However, after university, I changed my mind, because my plan was to move in a foreign country and I wanted to see what was going on oversea.

I took a class in a language school, and I really enjoyed it : the atmosphere was very good : I was exchanging with people from all over the world, and we were all there for the same reason : to learn how to speak English, finally.

I can tell you that I was ashamed to be the only one who had studied English for so long (10 years from high school to university) with pretty low speaking skills.

But I improved very quickly. I still have lots of nice memories from that time...

Sorry... It is a bit long... (!!!)

Next time I'll make it shorter...

;)

Garwin - just a remark : don't forget that you must write I with a capital letter. ;)

I am sure you know that!
